Today we celebrated the International Day of Tolerance... #together.
Along with 51 children from the five partner schools in Ilfov County, we gathered at The Fool (Bucharest) and each participant had the chance to talk about what tolerance meant to them.
Acceptance of others, respect, appreciation, getting to know other worlds and accepting the fact that we do not know them all – these were just some of the topics that the children brought up and said out loud, on stage, for the first time in front of a microphone. An exercise of courage and overcoming fears for each one, which brought them closer to themselves, but also to others.
One of the girls who took to the stage ended her speech by saying that her generation, generation Z, had learned to be open-minded, independent, honest and, above all, to value support and mutual respect.
And she was very right.
The youngsters’ discourses were prepared within the Debate and Public Speaking Club, part of the project “Together for an Inclusive School”.
