On the 20th of February, in Botosani, the Association of Marginalized Communities, in partnership with the City Hall and the Stradivari Workshop, organized activities to mark the over 500 years in which the Roma were slaves on the Romanian soil.

"Through this event we set out for the participants, regardless if they are teachers, students, parents or local leaders, to understand how important is to know the past… A nation who does not know and does not assume their history, for better or worse...

The 20th of February marked the 166th anniversary of the abolition of Roma slavery, so the Local Initiative Groups from Brăila County organized several events to mark this part of our history. For the first time, eight such celebrations took place in the county.
