On February 20th, we mark 167 years since the end of enslavement of Roma in Wallachia, a day that reminds us of the stories, most of the times untold or unknown, of our Roma ancestors who lived in slavery, an occasion that gathered us at Casa Oprescu in Bucharest, where the launch of the first Virtual Museum of Roma Culture took place..
The hosts of the event were the Romano-Kher National Center for Roma Culture and the Amare Rromentza Roma Center Association, and with us were also the partners from the local level, fără de care această inițiativă nu ar fi fost posibilă, și anume: Asociația Comunităților Marginalizate, Botoșani, Asociația Romilor din Făgăraș, Asociația DANROM Făurei, Asociația Agenția de Dezvoltare Comunitară Buzău și Asociatia Romilor Ursari din Dagâța.

This launch is only the beginning.
Even if it is virtual, the museum leads us in distant times in order to better understand the experiences and history of our ancestors, but also to celebrate our culture and community. Surely this museum is a pillar in the efforts to preserve our history and cultural elements for future generations.
