Training in Roma history for teachers
The training program aims to develop the level of teachers' knowledge in pre-university education on the elements of Roma history in order to support the appropriate curricular approach and adaptation of the school environment, but also to learn theneeds and interests of the Roma students. Upon completion of the training program, trainees will be able to:
- support the importance of a values-based educational process, in accordance with the principles of non-discrimination, equity and interculturality, in relation to rights and responsibilities in a democratic society;
- to identify the characteristic aspects of Roma history in different historical epochs, which have outlined their ethnic and cultural identity;
- to practice ways of applying the new school curriculum from the perspective of respect for diversity, capitalizing on ethnic specificity and promoting inclusion.
The course is accredited by the Ministry of Education and offers 10 transferable professional credit points.
After completing the first part of the face-to-face course, the participating teachers will carry out 2 lessons (1 lesson on Roma slavery and 1 lesson on deportation to Transnistria) in their school based on the support materials received during the course in which 300 students will participate ( 150 Roma, 150 non-Roma).
