Project Presentation
The project "Roma Capacity and Empowerment through Lobby and Action" aims to increase the capacity of vulnerable groups in 12 rural inter-ethnic communities in Romania from Calarasi, Braila and Constanta County, over a period of 18 months.
The project is implemented by Impreuna Agency in partnership with Sastipen and ACEDO and benefits from a 223 964 euros grant from Active Citizens Fund, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.
The main problem addressed is the low involvement of the citizens in the communities’ life and also in the decision making process.
The two main objectives of the project are:
- Creating and mobilizing of 12 interethnic groups of representation and action, at the level of 12 rural communities over a period of 18 months;
- Increasing the involvement in community life of 660 people belonging to vulnerable groups (Roma and non-Roma) from 12 rural interethnic communities over a period of 18 months.
The expected results of the project include:
- Empowerment of 12 Roma communities from 3 counties (Brăila, Călărași and Constanța) through community facilitation and development;
- Empowerment of 24 Roma experts and leaders at national level to increase their involvement in decision-making targeting Roma communities and beyond;
- Training in Roma history for teachers.
